Ezra Supports Israel
At Ezra, Israel is part of our past, present, and future. Israel is an essential part of our identity, culture, religion, family, and religious customs and traditions. Therefore, Israel is integrated by all teachers, in all subjects, throughout the year and on special days, from science and math to Judaics, and from humanities to music, Hebrew, and art, in classrooms and shared spaces. We teach Israel with passion, with the flexibility to have challenging conversations, and with the inclusivity of differing voices. We strive to create spaces for self-expression and critical thought for all students when grappling with potentially divisive issues while modeling respectful discourse. Israel is a country of real people with real stories, and we encourage students to grapple with the complexities of the place, its history, and its people. Therefore, our instruction is unbiased, even when teaching about Israeli politics and history, and we utilize as many primary sources as possible so students have direct engagement with Israel in age-appropriate ways. We foster ways for Ezra graduates to maintain a connection to Israel as part of their lifelong journey of learning.
Yom Ha’Atzmaut
Israeli Independence Day is quite the celebration at Ezra. Every year the students and teachers decorate the school with Israeli flags, have an assembly to learn about what makes this day such an important one, and we finish the day doing fun activities for Ezra Olympics!
