It has been a short but eventful week…We began with an exciting and HAPPY Purim celebration. After a morning of math and Hebrew children ate their lunches…changed into their costumes…and headed off to the Megillah reading! From, queens and LOTS of princesses👑 , to Teacher’s of ALL Things💪 , we celebrated with groggers, and much happiness. 
❄⛄and then came the snow!!!!❄⛄
😥😥😥Sadly we had to say farewell to Orly and Michal on Monday. We suspected there would be no school for Tuesday and Wednesday so we made sure to give all the hugs and love we possibly could on Monday. We will miss the entire family terribly but will be planning some FaceTime sessions soon!!!!
 
Secular Studies:
Open Circle skills are continuing to be practiced, and modeled daily. Please review these skills with your children and implement as much as you can in your home. Solution Station, I Feel sentence, giving and receiving compliments, non-verbal signals, etc.. Please see past newsletters for details and more information on these skills. 

Due to the short weeks we have been having,Reading groups continued with Harry the Dirty Dog (online) and the completion of last week’s stories. Skills such as Main Idea, Details, Sequencing, Characters and Setting were focused on. Each group worked on such skills with reading on their level. 

Spring reading assessments have been completed and I am THRILLED to say that EVERY single child has shown improvement and an increase in their reading level! Mazel Tov KESHET!!!!
We are also so excited to have completed another Read-A-loud book (James and The Giant Peach). There were lots of giggles when we found out the Ladybug married the Head of the Fire Department!!!!
 
Things 1 were introduced to new sight words /had/ and /don’t/. While Things 2 were given their new Spelling words that focused on singular and plural. 
Things 2 are also continuing to develop their Language skills. Pronouns and adjectives have been focused on and used in sentences and stories. 
 
This week in math the Things 1 have been working on subtraction equations and finding the difference. It is extremely important for them to be practicing their math fact addition and subtraction on a regular basis. 
Things 2  has been introduced to division…and due to their diligence they were able to complete the chapter in this short week! here are constant reminders of the new math vocabulary, sum, difference, product, and quotient. Things Two should also be practicing their math facts daily. 
By the end of the school year, Things 1 should master math facts 1-10 wishing 4 seconds (addition and subtraction) and Things 2 should master addition and subtraction 1-20 in 4 seconds. 
 
Judaics/Hebrew:
Parshat Ki Tissa: we had a very short week but still — we watched the godcast and Alephbeta video.  We did a mini-role play, including all of us being scared when Moshe was gone for so long; and all of us as Moshe being angry and smashing the tablets;  We reviewed the story of the Golden Calf.  

 
We also reviewed Shabbat Zachor, which was this past Shabbat; we acted out the rules of war — 2 soldiers engaging in battle according to the rules of war, and then one Amalek and one soldier — with the Amalek attacking the women, children, sick, old, and disabled — in violation of the rules of war.   

We also discussed Shabbat Parah which is this coming Shabbat — as this marks the time to start getting ready for Pesach.
